Collaboration and the key elements to success

The first day of the seminar will combine mini-seminars and workshops about creating fruitful collaboration between different stakeholders

First part of day will focus on discussions and finding solution to speed up the possibilities to collaborate working together with Finnish solutions and local providers. The day will flow through in roundtable discussions hosted by event partners and event visitors.

Second part of the day will focus in finding the right way to succeed with the idea. How can I can develop and find the right partners with my idea? And in the other hand how can utilise and find the new solutions for my needs?

Session 1: How to speed up the collaboration?

The First part of the day will focus on discussions and finding solution to speed up the possibilities to collaborate working together with Finnish solutions and local providers. The session will flow through in discussion hosted by event partners and event visitors.

Moderator: Antti Onnela, Section Leader in CERN Detector Technologies Group

Topics in discussion by event partners:

  • Digital Value Chain
Tuukka Sarkki, Passionate Director, Future Business Development at Vincit
  • Methods & Tools for Complex Systems Behaviour and Risk Assessment
Timo Lehtinen, Managing Director, Ramentor Oy
  • Intelligent automation
Harri Nieminen, Director, Innovation Development & Research, Fastems

Session 2: How to fly with my idea

The purpose of this session is to help interested companies to connect their own technical areas of expertise with future needs of CERN. For practical reasons, the focus will be on detection and imaging technologies. As a case example, the recently approved ATTRACT-initiative will be used as a starting point, as this initiative is about co-development and co-innovation with industry, using next generation scientific instrumentation R&D as an engine of innovation. Moreover, as ATTRACT is designed to promote transformative or disruptive ideas, it offers a platform for ideating around high risk-high gain concepts. Researchers from HIP, CERN, and elsewhere are invited to join in the ideation sessions. The goal, or outcome, of the session is a set of rough outlines for potential, collaborative submission proposal for ATTRACT for early 2018.

As an option, participants are offered the possibility to work on a rapid, conceptual prototype based on Design Thinking principles. This option is voluntary and may extend later into the evening.

This session will be led by the IdeaSquare team (Pablo Tello, Markus Nordberg, Joona Kurikka), with strong participation and support from HIP.

Working for the next 100 years of solutions

The main event of the three day seminar will be organised in the Globe on Thursday. During the day we will hear and are able to discuss about few most interesting topics that Finnish knowhow has been taking part of. During the seminar day we will hear Petteri Taalas, the Secretary-General of WMO, Annastiina Hintsa, […]
